Be Your Own Boss is a brand new BBC Three programme fronted by entrepreneur, and Innocent Smoothie co-founder, Richard Reed. Over the 6 part series, Reed will be looking for the next generation of start-up superstars, setting aside up to a million pounds to invest in three of the big ideas pitched by 500 hopefuls.

In episode 1, Mango Bikes were revealed as the the first business to be successful; winning backing of £50,000 and gaining Richard as a mentor. Mango Bikes are custom design fashion bike‘s, the brain child of university pals Jezz Skelton and Ben Harrison. The pair see their bikes as a ‘fashion brand', with their colourful cycles cashing in on the trend for fixed gear bikes, with everything – even down to the pedals – being customisable.

First on the duo's shopping list may be an improved website; the drama ensued during last night's show as the Mango Bikes website ‘disappeared' as it was about to launch. The website also crashed and was down for the whole evening due to the increased traffic to the site following last nights airing and the number of people eager to get a look at the Mango Bikes concept.
